About This Lesson
In this lesson students will learn about the First Step Act, a bill designed to reform the criminal justice system in the United States. Students will watch a short introductory video, read speeches in favor and against the legislation, debate, and vote on whether to pass the bill into law. Through this process students will deepen their understanding of the legislative process and criminal justice.
